Are you ready to start senior year? It’s an exciting time in your life but it’s also going to be busy. You’ll have to stay on top of your college and scholarship applications, while still studying for school, and participating in your extracurricular activities.
Now is the perfect time start on the application process! You can begin working on the rough draft of your college essay. If you need to take the SAT and/or ACT, be sure to register. Search for scholarships and prepare for those applications. These are just a few ways students can begin preparing for the busy application season that lies ahead.
Staying organized is key so find a method that works for you. Make note of application deadlines and write them down in your planner or save them in your phone. Create bookmarks and save websites to your web browser. Create folders in your email and save your college-emails. These are just a few ideas to help you stay organized during application season. Also, break up your projects into smaller tasks. This will help you stay on track and minimize stress.
Stay in contact with your high school counselor and teachers this year. Your counselor needs to be kept informed of where you are applying so they can know where to send your transcript, recommendation letters, and other school-related documents. They are there to support you and help guide you through the process. Your peers are also a great resource!
Although this year will keep you busy, please be sure to also take time to yourself. Remember to do activities that bring you joy and practice self-care. Take breaks throughout the day so you can refocus and put forth your best work. Celebrate your successes and hard work.
